Makai Motion Pictures was founded in 2005 to build and maintain a thriving, creatively progressive and financially profitable Hawai’i-based film financing, development and production company whose goals are:

To develop, co-finance, produce and deliver high-quality film and television programming content for the international marketplace, with a particular emphasis on stories and content originating from Hawai’i, Asia and the entire Pacific Region. Makai Motion Pictures also looks toward Asia and the Pacific to bring film and television financing to Hawai’i;

To create, produce, license or sell a diversified slate of film and television projects, fiction and non-fiction, with a range of budgets between $1–5 Million thus ensuring a diverse portfolio of films holding a range of market values;

To remain open to new related projects including performing arts and high tech opportunities: larger budget ($5M-plus and/or major-studio) feature film projects; producing and/or partnering with new technology (high-definition and advanced digital format production, exhibition); partnering with existing entities and organizations locally and internationally;

To nurture and develop creative talent from Hawai’i and the Asia Pacific region; identify and develop creative talent for international level professional co-production partnerships.
